Major joint venture is something to cheer about

During a challenging time for the drinks and hospitality sectors, T&J client, Marston’s has revealed a planned joint venture with Carlsberg UK. Investment within the industry will play a major part in getting the wheels turning again, as licensed premises start to reopen.

The merger of the two businesses is understood to be worth £780 million and, at a time of great uncertainty for pubs, this merger is a huge vote of confidence for the pub and UK brewing industry.

The move will see the many beer brands owned by the two companies enter a new phase of growth and development. Marston’s has a strong heritage, extensive pub estate and an established reputation for brewing and logistics excellence. Now, combined with Carlsberg UK’s global brand portfolio and scale, it creates a compelling beer business.

T&J’s long-standing relationship with Marston’s

T&J Installations is a leading service provider of installation and maintenance of beer dispense equipment in pubs and bars, up and down the country.

T&J started working with Marston’s over 30 years ago with a contract to install and service beer dispense equipment alongside their internal team. Eventually, Marston’s decided to outsource its installation operation and, for many years now, T&J has held the UK installation contract.

T&J ready and open for business

Ian Jones, Managing Director, says of Marston’s: “Over the years, we’ve developed an in-depth knowledge of our client’s requirements and, by being closely involved and made to feel an integral part of their team, we provide a highly responsive and tailored service to their customers.”

Ian Jones continues: “The Carlsberg-Marston’s merger is excellent news for both companies – the funding and resources this joint venture will have at its disposal will stand it in good stead.

“Similarly, T&J, having recently joined forces with Italian drinks dispense specialist, Celli Group, is strategically placed to support our industry right now in getting back to the new normal.”

Celli’s investment in T&J reinforces the underlying strength of its business to serve clients in the UK’s hospitality sector. Working with Celli will enable T&J to offer an enhanced range of products and services to the UK market more quickly by expanding the company’s technological offering.
