T&J installs tank beer mobile bar at the Great British Beer Festival

Taps were flowing with the taste of Budweiser Budvar tank beer at the 2018 Great British Beer Festival, thanks to supply and installation services from T&J Installations.

The event run by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) took place at London Olympia from 7th-11th August 2018 and is the largest of its kind in the country.

The venue

The Great British Beer Festival is one of the biggest, most exciting and well-known events in the beer and cider world. Run almost entirely by volunteers, it brings hundreds of real ales, international beers and real ciders and perries under one roof.

Paul Jones, Operations Director of T&J Installations, said: “Being organised by CAMRA, The Great British Beer Festival is visited by some of the most discerning beer drinkers in the UK. Whilst the CAMRA organisation is geared towards ale, the Festival itself is all about quality beer. We were proud to help bring Budweiser Budvar, and tank beer as a dispense method, to the event.”

The requirement

As the preferred installer for Budvar’s tank beer, T&J was asked to provide a temporary tank beer installation in Budweiser Budvar’s display stand at the Great British Beer Festival. This included T&J's tank beer mobile bar and two additional beer tanks, providing increased capacity.

The tank beer installation formed part of a Budvar experience which featured a virtual reality tour of the Budweiser Budvar brewery in the Czech Republic and concluded with a fresh pint of Budvar.

The system

Tank beer is a high-volume storage and dispense system, available as a permanent or temporary installation and also in a mobile bar format. The beer within the tanks is stored in polyvinyl in-liners which are replaced with every refill, ensuring maximum sterility.

Paul Jones said: ”Tank beer allows you to serve cask-conditioned beer, unfiltered and unpasteurised, as fresh as it would be at the brewery. In some respects, it’s a modern alternative to the cask, but with a couple of key advantages; you can store beer in the tanks for about 4 weeks, compared to 3-7 days in a cask, and the volume of storage of a 500-litre tank is about 12 times that of a cask.”

Installation

T&J set up the tank beer system during the weekend prior to the Festival and broke the installation down at the end of the following weekend, once the Festival had finished. The tanks, located back of house, were filled with enough Budvar – delivered fresh from the brewery – to last the event.

Client feedback

Josh Nesfield, UK Marketing Manager of Budweiser Budvar, said: “The Great British Beer Festival is about great tasting beer that is made with care and good ingredients. We were invited to showcase Budvar last year and it was a great experience for us, so we were delighted to be invited back in 2018.

“The response to Budvar and the tanks was brilliant, once again. We were delighted to completely sell out of beer before the end of the festival.

“T&J Installations is our preferred installer for tank beer dispense and, as always, they delivered. Their work was scheduled perfectly around the event and our needs. The installation worked without a hitch and the bar looked great. We look forward to continuing our work with T&J and collaborating on new exciting projects in the future.”
