T&J Greens score three trophies in the 2016/2017 season
The T&J Greens football team has enjoyed a winning streak of late, securing three trophies in the 2016/17 season:
- Autumn League Champions
- Pat Duke Memorial Cup winners
- Winter League runners-up
This followed on from the 2015/16 season, in which they won the Pat Duke Memorial Cup, and to retain the cup for a second year is an excellent achievement.
T&J Installations sponsors the ‘T&J Greens’, a team within the Solihull Little League. The League was set up 22 years ago, with the aim of taking a different approach to children’s Sunday football – by driving improvement from a place of enjoyment rather than competition. The reason for this was to make it as accessible as possible and to provide the young people in the community a fun way to spend their spare time – within a structured football environment.
Ian Jones, Managing Director of T&J Installations, said: “It was a great year of achievements for T&J Greens and the Solihull Little League. We are proud to be associated with the organisation. We have great respect for what the charity offers kids in the area – and knowing that they’re flourishing in what is a fairly unique environment is really rewarding.”
Solihull Little League conforms to the rules and principles of Little League Football. Their key objectives remain to this day:
“A strong community involvement is a key feature of Solihull Little League. The emphasis is on mass participation rather than elitism, enthusiasm and endeavour rather than ability. Players are encouraged to develop team spirit, self-discipline and sportsmanship and this also applies to the parents.”
Michael Hughes, Coach at the Solihull Little League, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the Greens for their achievements. Their self-discipline, to get this far, is rooted in an appreciation for the enjoyment they get from playing every week. Playing is its own reward for them, as coaching is for us, but the smiles all round – when the team succeeds – are the spoils of a job well done!”
