T&J dons the capes and masks to raise money for Fire Fighters Charity

Fun was had by all at T&J’s charity fundraising day, in support of the Fire Fighters Charity, which saw staff don superhero outfits and sell cakes on Thursday 31st May 2018.

Members of the T&J team gladly took the opportunity to crack out the superhero outfits for the day – some perhaps not so gladly, and we thank them most of all.

The day also included a visit from Red Crew, a team of fire fighters from the local fire station who came to chat and take photos with the T&J superheroes.

Through the donations and cake sale, the team raised £200 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides a range of services to support current and former fire fighters and their families. The help they provide takes various forms, including:

  • Rehabilitation – helping recipients to self-manage a physical or psychological condition or injury at home
  • Health & Wellbeing – assisting recipients with lifestyle associated and long-term conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and arthritis
  • Nursing – providing 24-hour nursing support to those with personal care needs such as neurological, degenerative and musculoskeletal condition
  • Recuperation – helping recipients to recover from life-changing events
  • Advice, information and support service – advising on such issues as social care, advocacy, financial support, home adaptations and equipment provision and bereavement support
  • Child and Family Programme – offering 5-day breaks for families with one or more children with special care needs, with activities tailored for the full family to enjoy

Nicola Sutherland, Customer Services/Relationship Manager, said: “T&J recognises the incredible work that fire fighters do, and that's why we selected this very worthwhile charity for our fundraiser.

“We like to make our fundraisers as fun as possible, and the team had a great time dressing up – and eating cake always raises staff morale!

“We were really happy, and honoured, to be visited by Red Crew on the day – they were very kind and posed for plenty of photos – and, of course, they were very appreciative that we were raising money for the charity.”
