T&J installs soft drinks dispense at new Bloomberg European HQ

T&J Installations has installed soft drinks dispense on multiple floors in the latest office building to grace the London skyline, Bloomberg's new European headquarters in the heart of the City.

The financial technology and media company's new London building is touted as the most sustainable office building in the world, applauded by the Guardian: “The City hasn’t seen such an ambitious homage to corporate power in decades.”

T&J’s installation works took place on two floors within the building, Level 1 and Level 6, with a total of 44 taps dispensing a variety of soft drinks. The work was done through KCCJ, which T&J was instructed by and collaborated with, in delivering all soft drinks systems.

Jeff Webb, Director at KCCJ, said: “T&J did a great job at Bloomberg and was very easy to work with. The project required the preliminary installation of pythons, months prior to the remainder of the installation work, and T&J was very accommodating in delivering all works on schedule, across the time frame.”

On Level 6 sits the Bloomberg building’s ‘Pantry’, an area that offers free food and drink to its visitors and employees where informal meetings take place.

38 soft drinks taps were installed on Level 6. These taps dispense a range of carbonated drinks, as well as fruit juices. This included 3 island counters, each with 6 soft drinks taps, and a ‘drinks wall’ which had two 10-tap Lancer systems.

The Lancer soft drinks systems, supplied by KCCJ, were specified by the architects that designed the building and were installed by T&J. For these Lancer systems, T&J provided and installed four Cornelius cooling systems.

This required extensive python work from T&J, with some lines stretching up to 70 metres. Much of this python work was laid down by the team 3 months before the rest of the installation work, as the lines needed to sit within the recesses of the raised access floor, prior to the flooring being put in place.

On Level 1, Bloomberg’s training area also provides a drinks facility to keep thirsty minds hydrated.

T&J installed the Lancer drinks system, as well as the supporting Cornelius cooling system and python work.

T&J Director, Ian Jones, said: “We were delighted to be involved in such a high-profile project and it was a complex job. The Pantry at the Bloomberg HQ is a forward-thinking and thought-provoking idea and it was a pleasure to help make that a reality.”
