Nordaq filtered water: a greener solution for restaurant water

Last year, we saw a drop in the use of plastic straws, in response to campaigning and in expectation of a potential Government ban. In their place, we saw a rise in the use of alternatives such as paper, corn and stainless-steel straws.

Although many more consumers and businesses are making the effort to recycle, unfortunately 90% of plastic bottles are currently not being recycled. Plastic bottles make a significant contribution to the contamination of rivers, seas and oceans, and it’s for the industry to find the solutions. All larger beverage companies are now looking for alternatives, as they see their business at risk.

What’s the alternative to single-use plastic water bottles? Some might say glass is the answer but bottling water in glass potentially swaps one single-use method for another. Water is not a product that needs to be pre-bottled.

T&J Installations is the sole UK technical services provider for the Nordaq water filter system. Nordaq water is created by venues, on-site, at the point of use, and enables them to offer a product that is of far superior quality to the bottled waters on the market. The water’s unique palette-cleansing properties create a ‘taste sensation’ when accompanying food and wine.

To hold the filtered water, Nordaq utilises elegantly branded reusable glass bottles. These bottles stay within a venue to be used and cleaned, time and time again – with no damage to the integrity of the vessel. This system offers significant savings in the logistics and labour costs of bottle delivery and disposal.

A reusable bottle solution means fewer bottles being produced, fewer bottles reaching landfill and fewer bottles putting pressure on public recycling facilities. As a result, Nordaq represents a more environmentally-friendly option than any water on the market that is pre-bottled and delivered.

Nordaq also offers reusable BPA-free plastic bottles too. Nordaq Grab & Go offers the leisure and hospitality industries a premium water that doesn’t require a new bottle for every serving. Instead, guests are provided with a high quality reusable sports bottle, which they can fill and refill with Nordaq filtered water.

Ian Jones, Managing Director of T&J Installations, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Nordaq, which spreads an eco-conscious message, with the installation and maintenance requirements of all its UK customers. Chosen by some of the world’s best hotels and restaurants across 20 countries, the brand is in talks with several hotel chains across the UK that are interested in both the system’s green credentials, as well as the sheer quality of the water. It’s something that needs to be tasted to be believed.

“There’s a long way to go for the drinks industry to substantially reduce its carbon footprint. However, innovative solutions, like Nordaq, are taking the right approach by eliminating unnecessary deliveries and single-use packaging.”
