T&J installs beer dispense at major new Birmingham pub

Tank beer installed by T&J Installations

T&J has provided installation and equipment supply for tank beer and cider and beer dispense for the launch of a major new Birmingham gastropub. The opening of The Canal House, owned by New World Trading Company, represents the revival of a much-loved Birmingham venue which has been closed for nearly 10 years.

Following the success of T&J’s tank beer installation at New World Trading Company’s The Oast House in Manchester, it has installed drinks dispense equipment at the pub group’s latest venue, The Canal House, Birmingham.

T&J has installed the majority of the beer and cider dispense systems, including beer tanks for Budweiser Budvar’s Tankové Pivo. The comprehensive installation that T&J has provided features use of New World Trading‘s own bespoke taps, which are tailored to the venue’s aesthetic.

For The Canal House, T&J has delivered a staggered programme of works – over a period of three weeks – in order to co-ordinate with the scheduling of all other fit out works.

The tank beer installation, which consists of three tanks with a maximum combined capacity of 1,500 litres, resides upstairs in the venue’s ‘Residency’ area and supplies beer to Tankové Pivo taps in both upstairs and downstairs bars.

The beer held in the tanks is a ‘brewery fresh’, unpasteurised product which is transported in refrigerated tanks direct from Budweiser Budvar’s brewery in the Czech Republic, over the course of three days.

The cellar, situated downstairs, houses kegs which supply a total of 28 taps, across both of the venue’s floors as well as the tank beer, which features:
  • Control panels corresponding to each of the tanks
  • Compressor, which pressurises the tanks
  • Tank cooling system
  • Python cooling system
Either through control panels or the bespoke app, the tanks can be monitored for their temperature and volume as well as allow control of the tank beer changeover system.

Kieran Hartley, Beer Guru of New World Trading Company, said: “The beer coming from the taps is tasting great, with Tankové Pivo being a stand-out product, as it is in Manchester. We are very excited about bringing this great offering to the people of Birmingham.”

“T&J left a great impression when installing the Budweiser Budvar tanks at The Oast House and, following that, we wanted them to provide further installation and equipment supply services for both beer and cider dispense at other venues in the group.

“We are very pleased with T&J’s contribution to our venues to date and look forward to having them on board as we continue to grow our portfolio across the country.”

Paul Jones, T&J’s Operations Director and tank beer specialist, said: ”Birmingham is close to T&J’s Tamworth HQ, and knowing the city as well as we do, we’re confident that The Canal House – with its stunning fit out and great food and drink - will quickly become a landmark venue.”
